What it is

The Mariner Steel Watch Band is a metal watch band made from stainless steel. It closes with a butterfly buckle that folds flat under the wrist. The set arrives ready to fit: the band, two curved end pieces, spring bars and a tool are all in the pack.

The curved end pieces are shaped to meet the case of a traditional watch. They close the gap between the band and the watch head so the fit looks clean from the top and the side. The band works as a replacement for a worn strap or as a change of look for a watch you already wear.

Sizes

Pick the lug width that matches your watch. Measure the distance between the lugs, the two points where the spring bars sit, in millimeters. The band is about 7.1 in (18 cm) long and fits a range of wrist sizes through the buckle.

Lug width In inches
12 mm 0.47 in
13 mm 0.51 in
14 mm 0.55 in
16 mm 0.63 in
17 mm 0.67 in
18 mm 0.71 in
19 mm 0.75 in
20 mm 0.79 in
21 mm 0.83 in
22 mm 0.87 in

If your measurement falls between two sizes, choose the smaller width. A band that is slightly narrow sits inside the lugs. A band that is too wide will not fit at all.

Colors

Six finishes are available:

  • Gold
  • Silver
  • Silver and gold
  • Rose gold
  • Silver and rose gold
  • Black

The two-tone options pair a silver base with gold or rose gold center links. The single-color options keep one finish across the whole band. All of them use the same stainless steel build and the same butterfly buckle.

How to fit it

  1. Remove the old band. Press the spring bar tips inward with the tool and lift the band away from the lugs.
  2. Slide the curved end piece into place. Line up the end piece with the lugs and set the spring bar into the holes on both sides.
  3. Check the fit. The curved ends should sit against the case with no gap. If the band rocks, the spring bar is not seated in both holes.
  4. Adjust the length. Remove links with the tool until the band sits the way you like. A good fit leaves room for one finger under the closed band.
  5. Close the buckle. The butterfly clasp folds under the wrist and clicks shut.

Take your time with the spring bars. They are small, and a steady hand keeps them from flying across the room. Work over a table or a soft cloth.

Care

Stainless steel holds up well to daily wear. Wipe the band with a soft cloth after use to remove skin oils and dust. For a deeper clean, use a soft brush with mild soap and warm water, then dry it with a cloth. Keep water away from the watch case unless the watch itself is rated for it.

Black and two-tone finishes can show scratches more than plain silver. A light polish with a jewelry cloth keeps the surface even. Store the band in a dry place when it is not on the watch. If you swap bands often, keep the spare spring bars and tool together so they are ready when you need them.

Good to know

The band fits traditional watches with a matching lug width. It is unisex and suits both men and women. The butterfly buckle keeps the profile low under a sleeve. The spring bars in the pack are the right length for the band width you choose.

Questions

How do I know which size to order?

Measure the distance between your watch lugs in millimeters. That number is your lug width. The band comes in ten widths, from 12 mm to 22 mm (0.47 in to 0.87 in).

Will this band fit my watch?

It fits traditional watches with a matching lug width. Check your watch lug measurement against the size list before you order. The curved end pieces are shaped to sit against the case.

What is included in the pack?

You get the watch band, two curved end pieces, spring bars and a tool. Everything you need to fit the band is in the box.

Can I shorten the band myself?

Yes. The tool in the pack lets you remove links to adjust the length. The band is about 7.1 in (18 cm) as it arrives, and the butterfly buckle closes flat under the wrist.
