The Waxed Leather Band

What this band is

The Waxed Leather Band is a leather watch strap made from oil wax cowhide. The leather has a soft, slightly matte surface with a natural pull-up look that deepens where the band bends. A steel pin buckle closes the strap, and the spring bars are already fitted with quick release levers, so you can swap the band without a tool.

This is a universal strap. It suits traditional watches with standard spring bar lugs, from field watches to dive watches to dress pieces. The stitching runs along both edges for a clean, even line.

Sizes and fit

Choose the lug width that matches your watch case. Measure the distance between the lugs in millimeters, or check your watch specs. The band fits wrists from 6.7 to 8.7 in (170 to 220 mm).

If your measurement falls between two sizes, go with the smaller one. A band that sits slightly narrow looks better than one that bulges past the lugs.

Colors

Seven colors are available: Black, Dark brown, Yellow brown, Blue, Green, Red and Dark blue. Black and the two browns are the classic picks and pair with almost any dial. Blue, Green, Red and Dark blue add a little color to a plain watch. The oil wax finish means each band shows its own grain and shade, so no two look exactly alike.

How to fit it

1. Check your lug width and order that size.
2. Pull the quick release lever on each spring bar and set the band between the lugs.
3. Release the lever so the bar seats in the lug holes. Tug gently to confirm it is secure.
4. Try the watch on and use the pin buckle holes to set your fit.

No tools are needed for the swap. If you prefer to remove the quick release bars and use standard spring bars, a spring bar tool works fine.

Care

Wipe the leather with a soft, dry cloth after wear. Keep the band away from water, including hand washing, swimming and heavy rain. Leather takes on moisture and holds it, which shortens the life of the strap. If the band does get wet, blot it dry and let it air out away from direct heat.

Store the watch flat or on a watch pillow when you are not wearing it. Avoid leaving the band in direct sun for long periods, since the color can fade over time.
