The Guard is a ribbed silicone sport band for WHOOP 5.0 and WHOOP MG sensors. It is made in two parts, with metal connectors at the sensor end and a pin-and-tuck closure at the other: a metal stud near the free end of the first part presses through one of a row of slots in the second, and a silicone keeper holds the tail flat. The slots set the fit and let air through to your skin.
Several colors are two-tone, with a contrasting inner face, so the side against your wrist is a different color from the one you see.
Silicone is the low-maintenance choice for a band you wear around the clock. It doesn't soak up sweat or water, it dries quickly, and a rinse under the tap is all the cleaning it needs on most days. That makes the Guard a good match for hard training, hot weather, the pool and long days outdoors, when a fabric band would stay damp. If you'd rather have something softer for everyday wear, look at a stretch nylon band like The Rep, or see how the materials compare in our guide to choosing a strap.
The Guard comes in nine colors: Black, White, Starlight, Gray, Teal, Yellow, Orange, Blue and Green. Every color is made in both versions, WHOOP 5.0 and WHOOP MG.
The Guard is made in two versions, one for WHOOP 5.0 and one for WHOOP MG. Choose the sensor you wear under Sensor.
It does not fit WHOOP 4.0 or 3.0. The 5.0 and MG sensors are smaller than the 4.0, and WHOOP resized the part of the band that holds the sensor to match. That is why WHOOP's own 4.0 bands don't take the newer sensors, and why a band made for 5.0 and MG, like this one, can't hold a 4.0. If you wear a 4.0 or 3.0, The Rep comes in a version for each, and every band we carry for WHOOP is on our WHOOP bands page.
One thing to know if you wear a WHOOP MG: its ECG and Heart Screener readings use the conductive clasp on WHOOP's own MG bands. The Guard doesn't have that clasp, so don't count on taking ECG or Heart Screener readings while your sensor is in it. It holds the MG sensor for everyday wear like any other band; switch back to your WHOOP MG band when you want to take a reading.
Fit your sensor to the metal connectors at the sensor end of the band, then wrap the Guard around your wrist with the sensor on top. Press the metal stud through the slot that gives you a snug fit and tuck the tail under the silicone keeper so it lies flat.
Wear it snug but not tight. The sensor should sit flat on top of your wrist and stay put when you move. If the band leaves deep marks, move the stud out by a slot; if the sensor slides around, move it in by one. The stud fits any slot in the row, so you can change the fit in seconds, with no tools.
If you keep a second band for the office or for sleep, move the sensor over when you change, and keep the Guard for the days you sweat.
Take the sensor out before you clean the band. Rinse the Guard under warm water with a drop of mild soap, work the soap into the ribs and the slots with your fingers, rinse again and pat it dry with a towel. Do this after sweaty sessions, salt water or a chlorinated pool, so residue doesn't build up.
Silicone can pick up lint and dust, most visibly on the light colors; a damp cloth takes it off. Sunscreen and insect repellent can mark silicone over time, so rinse them off soon. Keep the band away from strong solvents, and dry the metal connectors after a rinse.
Delivery is $6.95, or free on orders over $49. The delivery time for your country shows on each product page and at checkout.
You can return an unworn band in its original packaging within 30 days of delivery. Return shipping is paid by you, unless the item arrived faulty or incorrect. The full terms are on our delivery and returns page.
Don't count on it. On WHOOP MG, the ECG and Heart Screener readings use the conductive clasp of WHOOP's own MG bands, and the Guard doesn't have one. It holds an MG sensor for everyday wear; switch back to your WHOOP MG band when you want to take a reading.
No. The 5.0 and MG sensors are smaller than the 4.0, so bands made for them can't hold a 4.0 sensor, just as WHOOP's own 4.0 bands don't fit a 5.0. For a 4.0 or 3.0, The Rep comes in a version for each.
Move the metal stud to another slot in the row: one slot in for a snugger fit, one slot out for a looser one. Then tuck the tail under the silicone keeper so it lies flat. No tools are needed.
The band is fine in water: silicone doesn't soak it up and dries quickly. Rinse it in fresh water after the pool or the sea, and dry the metal connectors. How long and how deep your sensor can go underwater is set by WHOOP's own rating for it.
Not on every color. Several colors are two-tone, with a contrasting inner face on the side that sits against your wrist.
